green bag

The Green Bag is a counselling tool developed by Pavement Project and used by partner organisations and churches. The methodology uses specially designed image sets to explore specific issues children and teenagers face. It helps them share their stories of trauma and pain and reflect on them in a gentle and relaxed way within a safe and welcoming environment.

By helping participants identify with biblical characters, the Green Bag has already brought restoration to more than 110,000 children, young people, and adults.

Children aged 5 and above, as well as young people and adults in vulnerable situations, can receive individual counselling from a Pavement Project-trained educator.

How Does it Work?

To provide counselling using the Green Bag, participants take part in a training programme comprising in-person and online sessions. The training equips them to deliver personal, playful, and transformative counselling sessions, always respecting the individuality and developmental stage of the child or young person in vulnerable situations, bringing hope and healing to their lives.

If you work with children and young people at risk, you are eligible to use the Green Bag. You may be an educator, psychologist, social worker, or pastor, among others, as long as you are recommended by your organisation.
