BRIEF HISTORY
Pavement Project began its activities in 2000, But it’s genesis occurred two years earlier at Lifewords. They decided to carry out a study of children and adolescents in at-risk situations in different countries. Based on this study, developed by psychologists, theologians, and educators, an understanding arose about the pain this group faces. A methodology was developed to help these young people face the barriers that inhibit their full development. Thus, the main tool of the Pavement Project, the Green Bag, was created!
The Green Bag was developed to be a one-to-one counselling session provided in a safe and interactive environment facilitated by a trained worker. It involves games and Bible stories to assist children in vulnerability in sharing and dealing with their traumatic and painful experiences, promoting a deeper understanding of their worth and resulting in improved self-esteem.
This method encourages the open expression of traumas and emotions, allowing the child to reshape their thoughts about the lived experiences while identifying with biblical characters who have overcome adversities.
More than 101,000 children, adolescents and their family members have already been through the Green Bag experience. The result has been many inspirational stories of change and hope, strengthened organisations and workers impacted by the power of the Word of God, dedicated and committed volunteers in the multiplication.
